from a dream to a reality

If I may offer some context first….

In 2018, I had my birthday at a high-ropes course in Malibu Canyon. The course included the challenge of standing 60ft off the ground on a telephone pole and with safety cables attached, you had to jump and reach the trapeze bar that was suspended, mid-air and 5ft away. Eek! We each took on this feat and before jumping we were asked to declare - to yell out loud, and demonstrate our shared commitment or affirmation to the group of friends watching below.

This is my post to congratulate you, Rovelyn
- my dear friend, for making it come true.

You declared you would move to Spain & learn Spanish.

And, 2 years later, you did it.

From a dream to a reality.

I celebrate your commitment, your dedication and hard work to make all the necessary planning, savings and arrangements to make it happen. And, just as Life would have it, you overcame the hurdle of still getting yourself out there during the height of a global pandemic. Even, Covid-19 didn’t hinder your resolve to get out to Spain on your student visa and make it happen. You spent 13 months in Spain, combining being the new student + learning a new language + navigating protocols of safety during a turbulent, crazy year that was 2020.

WOW!

There was no way I would not make it happen to visit you in order to celebrate my friend and to hear you order and flirt in Spanish so we can toast, dos cervezas to your achievement. Thankfully, Spain opened up for visitors the month before you are set to come back to the U.S.

I celebrate my dear friend! It’s been a joy to be alongside your journey and witness you make this dream a reality. And, if it is inspiring to me, then it can be inspiring to others. I provided the context. And she is a great story.

Good things come to those who initiate.
